Arushi case: Maya press for CBI probe

UP Chief Minister Mayawati has indicated that she was ready to order for a CBI enquiry to investigate on the Arushi murder case.

The way the Noida police investigated the case has drawn much criticism from many sections with recently Arushi's family proposing for a CBI probe.

However the UP CM's proposal for the CBI probe was objected by the Union Minister of State for Home affairs. This has raged Mayawati who also alleged the Center and Congress government for politicising the case.

Heavy storms kill 20 in UP

Fresh heavy storms and rains in parts of Uttar Pradesh had claimed atleast 20 lives on Tuesday. The bad weather had caused severe damage to various parts in the State including  districts of Unnao, Etawah, Meerut, Pratapgarh, Hardoi, Banda, Rai Bareilly, Sultanpur, Kannauj, Barabanki and Lakhimpur.

Electricity was cut for several hours and many houses and trees collapsed in the intense storm.

Earlier this month many were killed during the heavy dust storms and rains that raged in the northern state. With this the death toll has crossed over 80 since May 14th.--MP

Arushi murder case: CBI probe sought

After Arushi's father Dr Talwar being accused and sent to judicial custody over the grusome double murder, including the teenage daughter and the domestic help, the family members and friends are coming together seeking an unpartial enqiry on the incident.

Talwar's lawyer demanding a CBI probe into the killings has said that the police has not done any job that was expected of them and maintained that Talwar was being made a scapegoat.

The lawyer also stressed that the family was stopped from talking to media and others as the police advised them not to do so as it would affect the investigations.

65.05 pc pass in Class 12 results

The girls had performed better yet again while the Uttar Pradesh Higher Secondary Board Sunday declared its class 12 results on Sunday.

While the overall pass percentage in the exams was recorded at 65.05, the total pass percentage of girls is much higher than that of the boys.

While girls scored a total pass percentage of 80.8, boys pass percentage is 54.26. However the top scoreres were all boys mainly from Lucknow and Kanpur.

Arushi's dad held for twin murders

In a significant turnaround of events, Dr. Rajesh Talwar father of Arushi Talwar was arrested in connection with the twin murder that rocked Noida.

Dr Talwar was held for carrying out the two killings, including the murder of his 14 year old daughter Arushi and his domestic help, Hemraj. The doctor's extra marital affair with his collegue's wife which was known to his daughter is said to be the motive behind the killing.

Police had said that the doctor intended to kill only Hemaraj while the other murder seemed to be accidental. Noida and UP police are still ivestigating more details on the case.
