Maya blames it on NDA

With the Tuesday's trust vote favouring the UPA government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has blamed it on the NDA for the government's victory.

She also alleged that  the NDA along with UPA has engaged in political conspiracy to prevent a Dalit woman from becoming the Prime Minister of the country. "Had the NDA not helped the ruling coalition, it would not have been saved on the floor of the House," said Mayawati. 

She also pointed out  that all her 17 BSP MP's had sticked onto the party's stand and voted against the government during the trust vote.

Landline phone offer for Rs 20

The growing trend of mobile phones are on a new rage. However the traditional landlines are still a preference among the rural households.

BSNL has come up with a special offer to widen its landline customer base in rural parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Under the new scheme proposed by BSNL a landline telephone will be charged just Rs. 20 installments per month and the offer is available only for the rural areas in the State.

Ajith Singh join hands with Mayawati

With just couple of days left for the confidence motion, it has been a major setback for UPA government with RLD leader Ajit Singh joining hands with Mayawati to vote against the government for the trust vote.

Lately the government even approved of renaming the Lucknow airport after Charan Singh, the late Prime Minister and father of RLD leader Ajit Singh.

The RLD chief Ajit Singh on Sunday has said that his party's three MPs, all of them from UP would vote against the government. The decision comes after Singh meeting with BSP supremo Mayawati.

In the wake of the confidence motion in Parliament following the Left's withdrawal over Indo-US nuclear deal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati is much in news.

Mayawati has turned out a key player among the Third Front with the party proposing the BSP supremo's name for prime ministership in the event of UPA losing the July 22nd trust vote which could eventually lead to fresh election.

However BJP remained non-committal on this move saying that it was too early to say anything on this regard.

New name for Lucknow airport

In what is seen as UPA's effort to please RLD chief ahead of the UPA's trust vote, Cabinet on Thursday has decided to rename Lucknow airport after former Prime Minister and former UP Chief Minister late Charan Singh.

The present airport known as Lucknow Amausi Airport will now be known as Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, Lucknow.

RLD chief and Charan Singh's son, Ajith Singh responding on this regard said that it was a long pending demand and has come of late.

N deal bigger than govt: Rahul

Congress leader and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi came in with strong support to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the Indo-US nuclear deal and said that it was worth the risk.

Expressing confidence that the government would win the trust vote, he praised on the PM's leadership for taking a risk even while compromising on the government.

"When you are convinced that it is in the interest of the people of the country, numbers don't matter. This decision that the Prime Minister has taken, in my view, is the right decision. We are going to win the vote," he said while talking to reporters in Amethi.

Thankful to God and CBI: Talwar

Almost after 2 months in jail, Dr Rajesh Talwar who was accused for his own daughter's killing was released from the jail on Saturday.

He was released on bail after the CBI has said to the UP court that they have no evidence against him. While talking to reporters soon after his release from the jail, Dr Talwar said he was thankful to God and the CBI for helping him.
 
The CBI on Friday has accused the three men involved with the double murder case- Talwar's compounder and 2 domestic helps of the neighbourhood.

CBI axe on Maya again

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati is in trouble again with the CBI coming up with claims of enough proof to file a chargesheet against the CM in connection with disproportionate assets case.

The CBI in its petiton to the Supreme Court has said that it had sufficient evidence to proceed against Mayawati for alleged amassed wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income.

This comes in response to Mayawati's petition seeking quashing of the criminal proceedings against her claiming that she was being targeted for political reasons.

Arushi case: CBI grills more

Even after a month long investigation, the actual culprit of the double murder case of Arushi and the domestic help is yet to be revealed.

CBI which is handling the probe at present, has so far arrested 3 in connection with the case- Dr Talwar, Krishna, and Rajkumar.

Lately one more person is being grilled by the CBI who is said to be a driver working for Talwar's neighbour. He is being questioned repeatedly in connection with the incident andhas even  undergone polygraph tests.

Rain lashes UP

Heavy and continous rains are taking a toll on life in Uttar Pradesh.

The mansoon which has been active in the northern State  for the past couple of days has killed many  people and left thousands homeless. With this death toll in UP a has reached over 75. 

The northern districts of the State are the worst hit with many villages in Ghaziapur, Mirzapur, Ballia, Pillibhit etc completely submerged in water.

72 yr old give birth to twins in UP

A 72 year old woman in Uttar Pradesh has given birth to twins,  which also marks a world record of being the oldest mother.

The woman Omkari Panwar who already got 2 daughters got concieved by IVF at the hope of having a son.

The parents were gifted with twins a boy and girl which were delivered by C-section.

Maya wants no BJP

Ruling out speculations of BSP joining hands with BJP, UP chief Minister Mayawati made it clear that her party need no support of BJP.

"The Congress, Samajwadi Party and their allies are spreading false propaganda that the BSP has joined hands with communal forces," said Mayawati.

"We have never fought elections with the BJP and never will," she added.
