Maya hits hard on Maha govt

Following incidents of MNS assaults on UP citizens, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has hit back with strong words against the Maharastra government.
Mayawati attacked the Maharastra govt for its inefficiency to curb the ongoing violence against North Indians in the state and demanded that the CM should resign if he cannot ensure the safety of its people. Following the killing of a UP youth in a suburban train, another journalist from UP was brutelly beaten to death by the MNS supporters on Thursday. --MP
No lapse in Rahul's security: UP govt

With several questions being raised on the alleged lapse in security cover for Rahul Gandhi during his recent vist to Kanpur, UP government has stated that it has provided enough security cover for the same.
The State govt's cabinet secretary explained that all norms related to security for SPG cover were strictly adhered to during Rahul's visit. However the govt also maintained that the cancellation of the event had nothing to do from its part. --MP

After Sonia Gandhi, her son and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi too got a similar treatment from the Uttar Pradesh Government.
Rahul Gandhi who was invited to attend a function held at a college auditorium of the Kanpur University was denied permission by the UP govt headed by chief Minister Mayawati. Mr Gandhi was stopped as soon as he reached the campus and was told that the programme itself was cancelled claiming that there was not enough security cover. However Rahul went on to meet the students and held interactive sessions with them at the college canteen. --MP

With elections nearing, leaders are pressing on vote bank politics. In another attempt to woo voters on her side, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has now batted in favor of the upper castes.
The BSP leader has said that ther party would make sure that there would be enough reservations for upper castes in government jobs if she is voted into power. She also claimed that her party has initiated many schemes for the benefit of the upper castes. --MP
Govt returns land for coach factory

Few days after the much controversial withdrawal of land for the proposed rail coach factory in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has now given go ahead for the project.
Mayawati had earlier cancelled the land allotment of the ahead of the bhoomipooja which was scheduled to be attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The decision by the State cabinet to return the land for the railways coach factory has come in the wake of Congress party workers threatening to protest against Mayawati for her verbal attack on Ms Gandhi. --MP

Soon after Sonia's remarks over Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has come heavily on the Cong President. The State government's move with prohibitory orders against Sonia to attend a rally in UP has fuelled the Congress chief who remarked that noone could stop her from visiting her home constituency of Rae Bareli. However the BSP chief has hit back saying that the bhoomipujan for the rail project by the Cong was just a drama and was aimed for political mileage with LS elections in mind. She also criticised Congress for not doing anything so far for the people of Rae Bareli inspite of ruling the State for over 44 years. --MP
CPM favor Maya as PM
Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati is turning up to be a favaorite for the top post of the country's Primeministership. With CPM splitting from the UPA patnership at the Center, things are coming more in favor of Maya who is being supported by the CPM itself as the Prime Minister candidate. CPM leader Prakash Karat has defended the party's decision to back the BSP supremo saying that the BSP was a key party and CPM was along with the BSP in its policies to fight the elections against the Congress and the BJP. -- MP
Tata chemicals BPO in Badaun

Tata Chemicals, a subsidary of the Tata Group has opened its business process outsourcing unit in Badaun, a remote place in Uttar Pradesh. The call center is at present equipped to accomodate around 125 BPO employees which will be further expanded. The BPO staff mainly hired from the adjoining village areas is aimed to empower the rural youth. The center function as backoffice logistic support for the Tata Indicom customers in UP. --MP

Politician turned Bollywood actor Raj Babbar has joined Congress party. Babbar who had joined Samajwadi Party earlier was elected to LS twice from Agra. But he was suspended from the party. Later he joined the party Jan Morcha along with former Prime Minister V P Singh. Babbar may contest the next elections from Fathepur Sikri as Agra has been declared as a reserved constituency. Along with some of of his supporters also has joined the Congress party. --MP
Blast victims organs to be donated

Lucknow based young man who was severly injured and died in the Mehrauli blasts in New Delhi will be donating his body organs. A victim of the Sept 27th seriel blasts, 23 year old Dipu died later on Oct 3rd at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi. Dipu's organs including kidneys, lungs and eyes are being donated after the doctors recieved permission from his family members in Lucknow. --MP
Terrorism is not a question of one individual-PM

Asked about the removal of Home Minister regarding his handling of terrorism, PM today said there are problems in the system to counter terrorism and "it is not a question of one individual". "I think we are dealing with a difficult situation. It is not a question of one individual, it is a question of the system and we have problems. We need to improve our various mechanisms which are in place to counter terrorism," he said. He also said that the government will put its "best foot forward" while dealing with terrorism and left wing extremismas it constituted a "serious threat" to the country's unity.
